This table was the first woodworking project that I built from my own design, though unlike the credenza, the design-process for my craft-table was concerned primarily with utility. A table such as this isn't particularly complicated--the forces that act on it are generally modest and simple--which made it a great first-project to design.
It's been in use for a few years now, and is still holding up really well. I haven't had to make any repairs, but I recently added a few trough-style planters to take advantage of the afternoon sun that comes through the adjacent window (the tarragon seeds I planted in the top trough have yet to emerge).
This craft-table has been a space where I can engage in other hobbies--electronics, screen-printing, recording music--but more than that it's given me confidence to try new things, to try hard things.
